Zithromax DT (Azithromycin)

Do’s

• Take Zithromax DT exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. This includes following the dosage instructions, frequency (how often to take it), and duration (total length of treatment).
• Take Zithromax DT with food to minimize stomach upset.
• Finish the entire course of medication, even if your symptoms improve after a few days. Stopping early can allow the bacteria to grow again and become resistant to the antibiotic.
• Take the medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day, as directed by your healthcare provider.
• Drink plenty of fluids while taking Zithromax DT to stay hydrated.
• Inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements. This is to avoid potential interactions.

Don'ts

• Don't take more Zithromax DT than prescribed. Taking too much can be dangerous and lead to side effects.
• Don't take Zithromax DT for longer than prescribed.
• Don't skip doses of Zithromax DT.
• Don't take Zithromax DT if you are allergic to azithromycin or any other ingredients in the medication.
• Don't take Zithromax DT if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your healthcare provider specifically advises you to do so.
• Don't use Zithromax DT to treat a viral infection. Antibiotics only work against bacterial infections.
• Don't share your Zithromax DT with others.

Common Side Effects:

• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Stomach pain
• Headache
• Rash
• Fever
• Lethargy (lack of energy)
• Tiredness

Serious Side Effects:

• Severe skin problems
• Liver damage
• Heart rhythm problems
• Allergic reactions

Inform your healthcare provider about any allergies to azithromycin, erythromycin, other antibiotics, or any of Zithromax DT's ingredients.

Disclose your medical background to your healthcare provider, especially regarding:

• Liver or kidney disease
• Myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness)
• Irregular heartbeat (QT prolongation)
• History of prolonged QT interval on EKG

Discuss pregnancy, breastfeeding, or planned pregnancy with your healthcare provider before taking Zithromax DT.

Zithromax DT may affect electrolyte levels (potassium, magnesium). Inform your healthcare provider if you take medications or have conditions that can cause electrolyte imbalances.

Zithromax DT may increase sun sensitivity. Limit sun exposure and wear protective clothing and sunscreen.

Zithromax DT can interact with certain medications. Tell your healthcare provider about all medications you take (prescription, non-prescription, herbal).
