Do’s

  • Before starting Trileptal and with each refill, read the Medication Guide provided by the pharmacist. If there are any questions, consult a healthcare provider.
  • Trileptal is typically taken by mouth, with or without food, as directed by a healthcare provider, usually twice daily.
  • The dosage is determined based on the individual's medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications being taken. For children, the dosage is also based on their weight.
  • To minimize the risk of side effects, your healthcare provider may advise starting the medication at a low dose and gradually increasing it. Follow their instructions and inform them about all products being used, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products.
  • Using the medication regularly at the same times each day is recommended to derive the most benefit from it
  • Regular communication with your healthcare provider is crucial, especially if there are any concerns about the medication or if there is a worsening of seizures.
  • Trileptal may be used in combination with other seizure medications as determined by a healthcare provider.
