Teveten Plus (Eprosartan/hctz)

Do’s

• Take Teveten Plus exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The dosage and frequency will depend on your specific medical condition and response to treatment.
• Teveten Plus is usually taken once daily, with or without food. 
• If you take this medication too close to bedtime, you may need to wake up to urinate. It is best to take it at least 4 hours before your bedtime.
• Take Teveten Plus regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it.
• Continue taking the medication even if you feel well, as most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick. It may take up to 2 to 3 weeks before you experience the full benefit of the drug.
• If you are also taking drugs to lower your cholesterol (such as bile acid-binding resins like cholestyramine or colestipol), take Teveten Plus at least 4 hours before or 4 to 6 hours after these medications.
• If your condition does not improve or if it worsens, such as if your blood pressure readings remain high or increase, inform your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects:

• Dizziness
• Headache
• Fatigue
• Nausea
• Stomach upset
• Increased urination

Less Common Side Effects:

• Allergic reactions
• Skin rash
• Itching
• Swelling
• Muscle cramps
• Joint pain
• Back pain
• Changes in blood sugar levels
• Changes in kidney function
• Low blood pressure
• Increased sensitivity to sunlight

Seek medical attention if you experience any severe or persistent side effects while taking Teveten Plus. Your healthcare provider can provide guidance on managing side effects and determine if any further action is needed.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing.

Teveten Plus should not be used during pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby. It is also not recommended while breastfeeding, as eprosartan may pass into breast milk. 

Teveten Plus may not be recommended for individuals with severe kidney or liver impairment. Dosage adjustments may be necessary for those with mild to moderate impairment.

Teveten Plus may cause low blood pressure, especially in individuals who are volume- or salt-depleted. Monitor blood pressure regularly and report any symptoms of low blood pressure, such as dizziness or lightheadedness, to your healthcare provider.

Teveten Plus may interact with other medications, including certain diuretics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and lithium. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
