Pred Forte (Prednisolone)

Do’s

• Use Pred Forte exactly as directed by your healthcare provider, typically 2-4 times a day in the affected eye(s).
• Wash your hands thoroughly before using the eye drops.
• Shake the bottle well if it's a suspension.
• Tilt your head back, pull down your lower eyelid to create a pouch, and apply the prescribed number of drops.
• Gently close your eye for 1-2 minutes, applying pressure near the corner of your eye to prevent drainage.
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface.
• Use Pred Forte at consistent times throughout the day.
• Continue using Pred Forte for the entire prescribed duration, even if symptoms improve.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition worsens or doesn't improve after 2 days of use.

Don'ts

• Don't use Pred Forte while wearing contact lenses unless your healthcare provider approves. If they do, remove the lenses before application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
• Don't rinse the dropper after use. Replace the cap securely.
• Don't use Pred Forte more often or for longer than prescribed.
• Don't stop using Pred Forte abruptly without consulting your healthcare provider.
• Don't use Pred Forte if it appears contaminated (discolored).

Common side effects:

• Mild stinging, burning, or irritation in the eyes
• Blurred vision
• Changed sense of taste
• Dilated (enlarged) pupils
• Sensation that there is something in the eye
• Sensitivity to light
• Slowed wound healing
• Watery eyes

Serious side effects that may require immediate medical attention include:

• Symptoms of an eye infection, such as eye discharge, swelling, redness, or vision problems
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Serious allergic reaction, although rare, including rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing
• Symptoms of cataracts (e.g., clouding of the lens of the eye, blurred vision, dim vision, eye pain)
• Sudden vision loss
• Blurred vision
• Tunnel vision
• Eye pain or swelling
• Seeing halos around lights
• Fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats
• Fluttering in the chest
• Shortness of breath
• Sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, or passing out

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking Pred forte,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Let your healthcare provider know if you have any allergies to Pred Forte or its ingredients, especially sulfites (present in some brands).

Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing eye conditions, especially eye infections, recent eye surgery, cataracts, glaucoma, severe nearsightedness (myopia), or diabetes.

Pred Forte may cause temporary blurred or unstable vision after application. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or activities requiring clear vision until your vision returns to normal.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take (including Pred Forte) before any surgery.

Consult your healthcare provider if you develop a new eye infection, or injury, or require eye surgery while using Pred Forte. They will advise you on continuing or starting a new bottle of eye drops.

Discuss the risks and benefits of Pred Forte with your healthcare provider if you're pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding as it's unknown if Pred Forte passes into breast milk.
