Do’s

• Take Parlodel exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. This includes dosage, frequency (usually 1-2 times daily), and taking it with food.
• Follow a consistent schedule. Taking it at the same time(s) each day helps maintain stable medication levels in your body.
• Start with a low dose and gradually increase as directed by your healthcare provider. This helps minimize side effects.
• Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing medical conditions or medications you take. This helps avoid potential interactions.
• Discuss with your healthcare provider potential side effects and what to do if you experience them.
• Let your healthcare provider know if your condition worsens or doesn't improve after taking Parlodel.

Don'ts

• Don't stop taking Parlodel abruptly. This can cause withdrawal symptoms. Talk to your healthcare provider about a tapering plan if needed.
• Take more Parlodel than prescribed. This can be dangerous and lead to serious side effects.
• Don't skip doses. Consistency is crucial for Parlodel to work effectively.
• Don't take Parlodel on an empty stomach. This can increase side effects like nausea and vomiting.

Common side effects:

• Dizziness
• Headache
• Hallucinations
• Nausea
• Constipation
• Abnormal involuntary movements
• Blurred vision
• Chest pain or discomfort
• Difficulty in speaking
• Double vision
• Feeling, seeing, or hearing things that are not there
• Feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
• Stuffy nose
• Redness, burning, or itching at the application site of the patch
• Dry mouth
• Upset stomach
• Extreme tiredness
• Drowsiness

Serious side effects that may require immediate medical attention include:

• Confusion
• Hallucinations
• Feeling like you might pass out
• Muscle movements you cannot control
• Loss of balance or coordination
• Bloody or tarry stools
• Coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
• Severe headache
• Seizure
• Weakness on one side of the body
• Vision changes (such as decreased/blurred vision)
• Chest/jaw/left arm pain
• Trouble breathing
• Signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), difficulty breathing

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking Parlodel,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Tell your healthcare provider about any allergies you have, especially to other medications like ergot derivatives.

Inform your healthcare provider of your medical history, particularly:

Certain genetic enzyme deficiencies

• High or low blood pressure
• Liver or heart problems
• Mental health conditions like psychosis or depression
• Stomach or intestinal issues like ulcers
• Blood flow problems in the extremities

Dizziness and drowsiness are possible. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or activities requiring alertness until you know how this medication affects you.

Parlodel may decrease blood flow to fingers and toes, especially in cold weather, increasing the risk of frostbite.

Parlodel should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary due to potential risks for both mother and baby.

This medication can affect fertility and may not be suitable for women who don't want to become pregnant. Discuss birth control options with your healthcare provider.

Parlodel is not recommended for breastfeeding mothers.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take before starting Parlodel, including prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal products.
