Orudis EC (Ketoprofen Ec)

Do’s

• Before starting Orudis EC and with every refill, read the information leaflet provided by your healthcare provider. Ask your healthcare provider or healthcare provider if anything is unclear.
• Follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding dosage, frequency, and duration of Orudis EC use. This medication is typically taken 3 to 4 times a day or as needed.
• Take Orudis EC with a full glass of water (8 ounces) unless your healthcare provider advises otherwise. Avoid lying down for at least 10 minutes after taking the medication.
• Take with food or antacids (if needed). If you experience stomach upset, Orudis EC can be taken with food, milk, or an antacid to help reduce discomfort.
• Start with the lowest effective dose. To minimize the risk of side effects, especially stomach bleeding, your healthcare provider will likely start you on the lowest dose of Orudis EC that controls your symptoms.
• Take for the shortest possible time.Don't take Orudis EC for longer than prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Be aware of potential benefits and risks: Discuss the potential benefits and risks of taking Orudis EC with your healthcare provider or healthcare provider.
• Inform your healthcare provider about improvement or worsening condition: Tell your healthcare provider if your condition improves or worsens after taking Orudis EC. For arthritis, it may take up to 2 weeks of regular use to feel the full benefit.
• Take for pain relief as soon as needed: If using Orudis EC "as needed" for pain, take it as soon as the pain starts. Delaying may decrease its effectiveness.

Don'ts

• Don't take more than prescribed: Don't take a higher dose or take Orudis EC more often than prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't stop taking abruptly: Don't suddenly stop taking Orudis EC without consulting your healthcare provider.
• Don't use alcohol or other medications that can increase stomach bleeding risk: Avoid taking Orudis EC with alcohol or other medications that can increase your risk of stomach bleeding. Consult your healthcare provider or healthcare provider for a complete list of medications to avoid.
• Don't take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding: Orudis EC is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Discuss alternative pain management options with your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects:

• Stomach pain or discomfort
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Heartburn
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Rash or itching
• Swelling or fluid retention
• Increased blood pressure

Serious Side Effects:

• Signs of gastrointestinal bleeding, such as black or bloody stools, or vomiting blood
• Signs of liver problems, including yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or persistent nausea
• Signs of kidney problems, such as changes in urine frequency or color, swelling of the ankles or feet, or unexplained weight gain
• Allergic reactions, such as rash, hives, or difficulty breathing
• Signs of heart problems, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, or rapid weight gain

Disclose any allergies to Ketoprofen, aspirin, other NSAIDs, or any ingredients in OruDIS EC.

Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing health problems, especially asthma, bleeding/clotting problems, blood disorders, nasal polyps, heart disease, high blood pressure, liver disease, stroke, swelling, or stomach/intestinal/esophageal problems.

NSAIDs use, including Ketoprofen, can increase the risk of kidney problems, especially if you are dehydrated, have pre-existing conditions, or take certain medications. Drink plenty of fluids and consult your healthcare provider if you notice changes in urine color or amount.

OruDIS EC may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or activities requiring alertness until these effects subside. Limit alcohol and discuss marijuana use with your healthcare provider.

This medication may increase the risk of stomach bleeding. Limit alcohol and tobacco use.

OruDIS EC may increase sun sensitivity. Limit sun exposure, use sunscreen and protective clothing, and consult your healthcare provider if you sunburn.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take (including OruDIS EC) before any surgery.

Older adults may be at higher risk for side effects like bleeding, kidney problems, heart attack, or stroke.

OruDIS EC may harm an unborn baby and is not recommended, especially during the later stages of pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

OruDIS EC passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.

NSAIDs like OruDIS EC may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially with long-term use or in high doses. This risk is higher for older adults or those with pre-existing heart disease risk factors.

OruDIS EC may rarely cause serious bleeding from the stomach or intestines. Stop taking it and seek immediate medical attention if you experience stomach pain, black stools, bloody vomit, chest pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, confusion, weakness on one side of the body, trouble speaking, or sudden vision changes.
