Who Should Not Take Ongentys capsule?

Do not take Ongentys if you:

  • Use a non-selective monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor, such as phenelzine, isocarboxazid, or tranylcypromine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
  • Have a tumor that releases catecholamine hormones, such as pheochromocytoma (a tumor in the adrenal gland) or paraganglioma.

What are the ingredients in Ongentys capsule?

Active ingredient: opicapone Inactive ingredients: lactose, magnesium stearate, pregelatinized starch, and sodium starch glycolate. The capsule shells contain: FD&C Blue#2, FD&C Red#3, gelatin, and titanium dioxide.

Common side effects include: Uncontrolled sudden movements (dyskinesia), low blood pressure, constipation, weight loss, and increased levels of blood creatine kinase.

Serious side effects may include:

  • Falling asleep suddenly. You may fall asleep without warning while doing normal activities like driving, eating, or talking. This risk increases if you take other drowsy medications.
