Janumet is a medication specifically for people with type 2 diabetes. It helps manage blood sugar levels, but it's important to remember that it must be used in combination with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Janumet has two active ingredients that work in different ways:

  • Sitagliptin: This boosts substances in your body called "incretins". These incretins help your body release more insulin after you eat and signal your liver to reduce the amount of sugar it produces.
  • Metformin: This helps your body become more sensitive to the insulin it already makes. It also reduces the sugar your liver produces and the amount your digestive system absorbs.

Do's

Conditions like high fever, diuretics, excessive sweating, diarrhea, or vomiting can increase your risk. Stop taking Janumet and consult your healthcare provider with prolonged diarrhea or vomiting. Drink plenty of fluids unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.
