Do’s

• Before starting to take Invokamet and each time you receive a refill, read the Medication Guide and, if available, the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist. If you have any questions, you should ask your healthcare provider for clarification.
• Take Invokamet by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider, usually twice a day with meals.
• Take this medication regularly to derive the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day.
• Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider.
• The dosage of Invokamet is based on your medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications you may be taking. Inform your healthcare provider about all the products you use, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products.
• Your healthcare provider may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose to reduce the risk of side effects, such as upset stomach. Follow their instructions carefully.
• Check your blood sugar regularly as directed by your healthcare provider and keep track of the results to share with them.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your blood sugar results are often too high or too low, as they may need to adjust your diabetes medication, exercise program, or diet based on these results.

Common Side Effects:

• Upset stomach
• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Headache

Serious Side Effects:

• Symptoms of lactic acidosis, such as unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain, dizziness, feeling cold, or feeling very weak or tired

If you experience any of these serious symptoms, call your healthcare provider or seek emergency medical help.

Discuss any concerns about side effects with your healthcare provider. If you experience any unexpected or concerning symptoms while taking Invokamet, seek medical advice promptly.

There is a risk of metformin-associated lactic acidosis, particularly in high-risk groups. If metformin-associated lactic acidosis is suspected, immediate discontinuation of Invokamet is recommended, and general supportive measures should be instituted in a hospital setting. Prompt hemodialysis may be necessary.

Avoid excessive alcohol intake while receiving Invokamet, as excessive alcohol consumption may have adverse effects.
