Imdur (Isosorbide Mononitrate ER)

Do's

• Take Imdur by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once daily when you wake up.  
• Swallow this medication whole with a half glass of water (4 ounces/120 milliliters).  
• Always take Imdur exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, typically once daily in the morning.  
• Take Imdur regularly at the same time each day for optimal benefits.  
• Inform your healthcare provider if you experience increased or worsening chest pain, as Imdur's effectiveness might decrease over time, requiring dosage adjustments.  

Don'ts

• Do not crush, chew, or split the tablets unless they have a score line, and your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so. This ensures that the medication is released slowly throughout the day.  
• Do not stop taking Imdur without consulting your healthcare provider, as this can worsen your condition. Your healthcare provider will advise on proper tapering if needed.

Before taking Imdur, tell your healthcare provider if you are allergic to it; or to similar drugs (such as isosorbide dinitrate, nitroglycerin); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your healthcare provider for more details.

Before using this medication, tell your healthcare provider your medical history, especially of: low blood pressure.

Imdur may make you dizzy. Alcohol or marijuana (cannabis) can make you more dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. Talk to your healthcare provider if you are using marijuana (cannabis).

Before having surgery, tell your healthcare provider about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).

Older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this medication, especially dizziness and lightheadedness, which could increase the risk of falls.

During pregnancy, Imdur should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breast-feeding.
