Femara (Letrozole)

Do's

• Take Femara orally, with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once daily. 
• Take Femara consistently for optimal effectiveness. Take it at the same time each day to aid memory.   
• Inform your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any worsening of your condition, such as the development of new breast lumps. 

Don'ts

• Avoid handling Femara tablets or inhaling their dust if you are pregnant, due to potential absorption risks. 

The dosage depends on your individual medical condition and response to treatment. 

Common side effects may include:

• Hot flashes
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Weakness
• Bone pain
• Muscle or joint pain
• Swelling
• Increased sweating
• Increased cholesterol levels

Serious side effects that may require immediate medical attention include:

• Bone fractures
• Chest pain
• Chills, fever, or flu-like symptoms
• Mental depression
• Swelling of the feet or lower legs
• Continuing or severe nervousness
• Fainting
• Fast heartbeat
• Heart attack
• Severe and sudden troubled breathing
• Allergic reaction (rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing)

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking  Femara,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Inform your healthcare provider of any allergies to letrozole, anastrozole, or other ingredients in the medication.

Discuss any history of:

• High blood fats (cholesterol)
• Bone problems (osteopenia, osteoporosis)
• Stroke, blood clots, heart disease (chest pain, heart attack, heart failure)
• High blood pressure
• Kidney problems
• Liver problems

Femara may cause dizziness, tiredness, or blurred vision. Avoid activities requiring alertness or clear vision until manageable. Limit alcohol and marijuana as they can worsen these effects.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take, including Femara, before undergoing surgery or dental procedures.

Do not use Femara if pregnant. It can harm your unborn baby.

Consult your healthcare provider about birth control. If you recently went through menopause and are taking Femara, discuss the need for reliable, non-estrogen-containing birth control for the duration of treatment and for 3 weeks after stopping.

Do not breastfeed while taking Femara. It may pass into breast milk and harm your baby. Wait at least 3 weeks after your last dose before resuming breastfeeding.
