Do’s

• Take with or without food. You can take Dilantin Infatabs with food to minimize stomach upset, or without food if preferred.
• Swallow whole or chew thoroughly. Dilantin Infatabs can be swallowed whole or chewed completely before swallowing.
• Take Dilantin Infatabs with a full glass of water (8 ounces) unless your healthcare provider advises otherwise.
• Take Dilantin Infatabs regularly at the same times each day to maintain a steady level of medication in your body. This helps control seizures effectively.
• Your healthcare provider may recommend regular lab tests to monitor your response to Dilantin Infatabs.

Don'ts

• Don't change your dose or stop taking it without consulting your healthcare provider: Abruptly stopping Dilantin Infatabs can worsen seizures. Your healthcarea provider will gradually decrease your dose if needed.
• Don't skip or miss doses of Dilantin Infatabs. Consistent dosing is crucial for seizure control.
• Don't take with antacids or nutritional tube-feeding products: These products can decrease Dilantin Infatabs absorption. Separate them by at least 1 hour before or after your Dilantin Infatabs dose, or follow your healthcare provider's specific instructions.
• Don't miss doses: Missing doses of Dilantin Infatabs can disrupt seizure control. Try your best to take them as directed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't ignore worsening condition: If your condition doesn't improve or worsens after taking Dilantin Infatabs, inform your healthcare provider. They may need to adjust your treatment plan.

Common Side Effects:

• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Loss of coordination
• Unusual eye movements
• Muscle twitching
• Double/blurred vision
• Tingling of the hands/feet
• Excessive hair growth
• Increased thirst/urination
• Unusual tiredness

Serious Side Effects:

• Slow heartbeat
• Trouble speaking
• Confusion
• Facial changes (such as swollen lips, butterfly-shaped rash around the nose/cheeks)
• Allergic reactions (hives, difficulty breathing, swelling in the face or throat)
• Severe skin reactions (fever, sore throat, burning in the eyes, skin pain, red or purple skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling)

• Lupus
• Folate or vitamin B-12 deficiency

Dilantin Infatabs Chewable may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or activities requiring alertness until these effects subside. Limit alcohol consumption and discuss marijuana use with your healthcare provider as these can worsen these side effects.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take (including Dilantin Infatabs Chewable) before any surgery.

Dilantin Infatabs Chewable may affect blood sugar control. Monitor your blood sugar regularly and discuss with your healthcare provider. They may need to adjust your diabetes medication, exercise program, or diet.

Vitamin D deficiency and bone weakening (osteomalacia) may occur. Discuss vitamin D supplementation with your healthcare provider.

Dilantin Infatabs Chewable may harm an unborn baby. Use only when clearly necessary and discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider, especially if you are planning pregnancy, become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant. Discuss reliable forms of birth control with your healthcare provider as some may not work effectively with this medication.

Phenytoin passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
