Desowen cream (Desonide) is used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including eczema, dermatitis, allergies, and rash. It is effective in reducing the swelling, itching, and redness associated with these conditions.

Desonide is a mild corticosteroid that works by reducing inflammation, itching, and redness in the affected areas of the skin.

The cream provides relief from the symptoms of various skin conditions and helps in the healing process by addressing the underlying inflammation and discomfort.

Do’s

  • Use for external applications only. Desowen is strictly for use on your skin.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after applying Desowen, unless treating your hands.
  • Clean and dry the affected skin area before applying the medication.
  • Apply a thin film of Desowen to the affected area and rub it gently as directed by your healthcare provider. The usual frequency is 2-3 times daily for cream or lotion, and 2 times daily for gel.
  • Avoid bandaging, wrapping, or covering the treated area unless your healthcare provider instructs you otherwise.
  • Be careful when applying Desowen near the eyes. Avoid getting it in your eyes, as it can worsen glaucoma or cause irritation. Rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs.
  • Use for prescribed conditions only. Use Desowen only for the skin condition your healthcare provider prescribed it for.
  • Tell your healthcare provider if your condition doesn't improve or worsens after 2 weeks of treatment.

  • Don't discontinue abruptly. Talk to your healthcare provider before stopping Desowen treatment.
