Cosopt (dorzolamide/timolol) is indicated for lowering high eye pressure in people with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It contains two active ingredients: dorzolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and timolol, a beta-blocker. This combination helps reduce pressure when a beta-blocker alone is not effective. It is not known if Cospopt is safe and effective for children 2 years and younger.
Please read the instructions before using Cosopt Eye Drops. Follow your doctor's prescription exactly. Use 1 drop of Cosopt (dorzolamide/timolol) in the affected eye or both eyes twice daily—once in the morning and once in the evening. If you use another eye drop, wait at least 5 minutes before or after applying this eye drop. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before using Cosopt. You can put them back in 15 minutes after applying the drops. Avoid touching your eye or eyelid with the dropper tip to prevent contamination. Contaminated eye drops can cause infections that may lead to vision loss. If you suspect contamination or develop an eye infection, contact your doctor immediately. If you have eye surgery, an eye injury, or an infection, ask your doctor if you should keep using Cosopt. In case of overdose, you may experience dizziness, headaches, slow heartbeat, shortness of breath, or breathing problems. If you have these symptoms, seek medical help right away.
