Climara Pro contains two hormones, an estrogen (estradiol) and a progestin (levonorgestrel). It is used by women to help reduce a certain symptom of menopause, specifically hot flashes.

These symptoms are caused by the body making less estrogen. The progestin in this medication helps to reduce the risk of cancer of the uterus, which can be caused by using estrogen. Women who have had their uterus removed do not need the progestin and should not use this combination medication.

Climara Pro may also be used by women after menopause to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis). However, discuss with a healthcare provider whether a different treatment or medicine without estrogens might be better for the individual's specific situation.

Do’s

  • Follow the healthcare provider's instructions: Use cromolyn eye drops exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, including dosage and frequency (typically 4 times a day).
  • Wash hands before use: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to prevent contamination of the drops.
  • Apply correctly: Tilt your head back, look up, and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a pouch. Apply the prescribed number of drops into the pouch. Close your eyes gently and apply light pressure at the corner of your eye near the nose to prevent drainage.
  • Avoid touching the dropper tip: Don't let the dropper tip touch your eye, eyelids, or any other surface to prevent contamination.
  • Use consistently: Apply cromolyn eye drops regularly at the prescribed times each day for the full treatment duration.

Don'ts

  • Don't wear contact lenses: Avoid wearing contact lenses while using cromolyn eye drops.
  • Don't exceed dosage: Don't use more drops than prescribed or use them more frequently.
  • Don't stop early: Continue using cromolyn for the full prescribed duration, even if symptoms improve.
  • Don't rub your eyes: Avoid rubbing your eyes after applying the drops.
  • Don't ignore worsening conditions: If your eye allergy symptoms don't improve or worsen, consult your healthcare provider.

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking Climara pro patch,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Inform your healthcare provider of any allergies to estradiol, levonorgestrel, or inactive ingredients before using the patch.

Disclose your medical history to your healthcare provider, especially if you have:

  • Vaginal bleeding of unknown cause
  • Certain cancers (breast, uterus/ovaries)
  • Blood clots, stroke, heart disease
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Family history of breast cancer, blood clots, or a swelling disorder (angioedema)
  • Blood clotting disorders

  • Lupus, underactive thyroid, mineral imbalances

Smoking increases risks associated with estrogen use, especially for women over 35 (stroke, blood clots, high blood pressure, heart attack).

Inform your healthcare provider about upcoming surgery or prolonged bed rest, as these increase blood clot risk with estrogen use. You may need to stop the patch or take precautions.

Climara Pro Patch may cause skin darkening. Minimize sun exposure, use sunscreen, and wear protective clothing. If you wear contact lenses or are nearsighted, you may experience vision problems. Consult your eye healthcare provider if this occurs.

Inform technicians if you have the patch on during an MRI scan. Some patches may contain metal and cause serious burns. Ask your healthcare provider about proper patch removal and replacement before the scan.

Climara Pro Patch should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It can harm the baby and reduce breast milk production.

Discuss the risks and benefits of hormone therapy with your healthcare provider. Estrogen and progestin do not prevent heart disease or dementia and may increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, blood clots, dementia, and some cancers.

Use the lowest effective dose of Climara Pro Patch for the shortest necessary time. Discuss the need for continued use with your healthcare provider regularly (every 3-6 months). If long-term use is necessary, schedule regular checkups (yearly) with your healthcare provider.
