Betoptic S eye drops are used alone or with other medications to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma (open-angle type) or other eye diseases such as ocular hypertension.

Lowering high pressure inside the eye helps to prevent blindness.

Betoptic S contains the active ingredient betaxolol, which belongs to a class of drugs known as beta blockers. Betaxolol works by decreasing the amount of fluid that is made within the eye.

Betoptic S should not be used while wearing contact lenses, as it may contain a preservative that can discolor soft contact lenses.

Do's
  • Wash hands before using.
  • Shake the bottle well before each use.
  • Remove contact lenses before using and wait 15 minutes before placing them back in.
  • Tilt your head back, look up, and create a pouch with your lower eyelid.
  • Apply one drop into the pouch.
  • Gently close your eye for 1-2 minutes and press the corner near your nose to prevent drainage.
  • Avoid blinking or rubbing your eye.
  • Repeat for the other eye if instructed.
  • Use at the same time each day.
  • Keep using the medication even if you feel well.
Don'ts
  • Don't touch the dropper tip to your eye or any other surface.
  • Don't rinse the dropper.
  • Don't use other eye medications within 10 minutes unless directed by your healthcare provider.
  • Don't drive or operate machinery until your vision clears.
