Anoro Ellipta (Umeclidinium/Vilanterol)

Do's

• Read the patient information leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start using Anoro Ellipta and each time you get a refill. 
• Follow the illustrated directions for proper medication use. If you have any questions, ask your healthcare provider.   
• Inhale Anoro Ellipta by mouth as directed by your health provider, usually once daily. 
• Inhale one dose of this medicine per day at the same time each day, ensuring it is not used more than once in a 24-hour period. 
• Open the cover of the inhaler only when ready to inhale the medication, as each opening prepares a dose. Ensure that you inhale the medication after opening the cover to avoid losing the dose. 
• Wait at least 1 minute between the use of each medication if you are using other inhalers at the same time.  
• Consult your healthcare provider if you have been using a quick-relief inhaler on a regular daily schedule to adjust the schedule and learn how to use it as needed for sudden shortness of breath. 
• Learn which of your inhalers you should use every day and which you should use if your breathing suddenly worsens. 
• Tell your healthcare provider if your condition does not improve or if it worsens. 

Don'ts

• Do not open the cover of the inhaler until you are ready to use it. 
• Do not close the cover until after you have inhaled the medication to avoid wasting a dose. 
• Do not exhale into the device. You may or may not taste/feel the drug when you inhale.

Common Side Effects: 

• Sore throat
• Sinus infection
• Infections

Allergic Reactions: 

• A very serious allergic reaction to Anoro Ellipta is rare. However, seek medical help immediately if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including:
  • Rash
  • Itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat)
  • Severe dizziness
  • Trouble breathing 

Anoro Ellipta may cause other side effects that are not listed above. If you notice any other effects, contact your healthcare provider.

Anoro Ellipta is for use only in people with COPD and should not be used to treat asthma. It is not a rescue medicine and will not work fast enough to treat a bronchospasm attack. Have a rescue inhaler with you to treat sudden symptoms of COPD.

Do not use Anoro if you have a severe allergy to milk proteins or are allergic to any of the ingredients in Anoro. Consult your healthcare provider if you are unsure about any potential allergies.

Do not use Anoro with other medicines that contain a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) or an anticholinergic for any reason. Inform your healthcare provider about all your medical conditions and about all the medicines you take.

There haven't been enough studies in humans to know if Anoro is safe to use during pregnancy. Consult your healthcare provider if you become pregnant while taking Anoro. Additionally, it's not known if Anoro passes into breast milk in humans. Discuss the potential risks and benefits with your healthcare provider if you are breastfeeding and considering taking Anoro
