Aerochamber Adult Plus with Mask (For use with Inhalers)

Please read the instructions before using AEROCHAMBER PLUS* FLOW-VU* Chamber.

1. Remove caps from the inhaler. Shake the inhaler immediately before use as the instructions supplied with it.
2. Insert the inhaler into the backpiece of the chamber. Cover mouth and nose with facemask and ensure an effective seal.
3. Exhale then press the inhaler once at the beginning of a slow inhalation. Inhale slowly and deeply through the chamber until a full breath has been taken. Hold your breath for 5-10 seconds before exhaling OR exhale and press the inhaler once at the beginning of a slow inhalation. Breathe in and out through the chamber for 2-3 breaths.

How to clean a spacer?

Remove the backpiece. To detach the front-piece, twist chamber as shown. Soak the parts for 15 minutes in a mild solution of liquid dish detergent and lukewarm clean water. Agitate gently. Rinse parts in clean water. OR Place parts in top rack of dishwasher. Ensure product is securely placed face up. Run the dishwasher on a normal or light cycle. Do not heat dry. Shake out excess water and allow to air dry in a vertical position. Ensure parts are dry before reassembly. To reassemble, fit the front piece on the end of the chamber and twist firmly until securely locked into position. Center the alignment feature on the backpiece with the FLOW-VU* Inhalation Indicator, as shown. Press firmly to attach the back-piece.

Why would an adult use a chamber?

The majority of adults do not use their inhalers properly. Up to 80% of people have poor inhaler technique which can lead to asthma attacks and poor outcomes. Chambers help by making it easier to inhale your medication and helping to ensure the inhaler medication is delivered to your lungs, where it is needed.

What is the difference between a spacer and a valved holding chamber?

A spacer is a device that is placed on the mouthpiece of your inhaler. When used, a spacer creates "space" between your mouth and the medicine so the aerosol puff can expand. A valved holding chamber is a type of spacer that includes a one-way valve to hold the medication inside, allowing you more time to inhale your medicine.

Does the AEROCHAMBER* device work with all metered dose inhalers (puffers)?

The AEROCHAMBER PLUS* FLOW-VU* Chamber can be used with all commonly prescribed metered dose inhalers (puffers). In fact, not only does it work with all MDI’s, the AEROCHAMBER PLUS* brand of chambers is the most recommended by leading metered dose inhaler pharmaceutical companies. The AEROCHAMBER PLUS* FLOW-VU* chamber can also be used with soft mist inhalers if required. The AEROCHAMBER2GO* chamber is designed specifically for use on the go and can be used with most metered dose inhalers. It is not designed for use with round mouthpiece inhalers such as Airomir†, Qvar† or Alvesco†. Use may cause premature wear or damage to the device. The AEROCHAMBER2GO* chamber has not been designed for use with Soft Mist Inhalers.

Does the AEROCHAMBER* brand of chambers work with dry powder inhalers or nebulizers?

No, the AEROCHAMBER* brand of chambers is not designed for use with Dry Powder Inhalers or nebulizers so you may not get the proper dose.

How often should the chamber be cleaned?

All of our chambers should be cleaned once a week. The chambers are easy to clean and is dishwasher safe. Wash in lukewarm water and detergent and then rinse and air dry. If cleaning in a dishwasher, ensure the chamber is placed in the top rack of the dishwasher and run on a normal or light cycle, avoiding the heated dry cycle.

When should children transition to a chamber with mouthpiece?

Children can typically transition to a mouthpiece around the age of 5 and when they can make a tight lip seal around the mouthpiece. The green mouthpiece chamber is designed for children 5 years and older and includes a lower resistance inhalation valve The blue mouthpiece chamber is ideal for adults, or teens if they prefer the design

When should a chamber with facemask be used?

Facemasks are essential for infants and younger children (less than 5 years of age). Facemasks are also ideal for adults for increased ease of use. You simply need to breathe normally through the chamber to inhale the medication.

Does the AEROCHAMBER* device contain Latex?

No, there is no Latex on the mask or anywhere on the AEROCHAMBER* brand of chambers.

How often should the chamber be replaced?

The chamber should be replaced every 12 months for optimum medication delivery. The chamber undergoes lifecycle testing for one year of regular use. The FLOW-VU* Indicator is especially useful for parents who are giving the inhaler medicine to their children. The indicator provides a visual cue of inhalation and correct use for medication delivery.

Can children use the AEROCHAMBER2GO* chamber?

The chamber was designed for use by adults as well as children over 5 years of age. It is important that you are comfortable with opening and closing the chamber before storing your inhaler inside of it.
