Acular LS, also known as ketorolac ophthalmic, is indicated for the following purposes:

  • Relieving Eye Itching: Acular LS is used to relieve eye itching caused by seasonal allergies.
  • Reducing Swelling, Pain, and Burning/Stinging After Surgery: It is also used to reduce swelling, pain, and burning or stinging after cataract surgery or corneal refractive surgery.

Do’s

  • Use this medication in the affected eye(s) as directed by your healthcare provider, typically four times daily as needed.
  • For eye surgery, Acular LS is usually used for up to 4 days after the procedure, or as directed by your healthcare provider.
  • Before applying the eye drops, wash your hands to ensure cleanliness.
  • Tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pouch. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place one drop into the pouch. Close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes and apply gentle pressure at the corner of your eye to prevent the medication from draining out. Repeat these steps for the other eye if directed.
  • If using other eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes before applying them. Use eye drops before eye ointments to allow the eye drops to enter the eye.
  • Replace the dropper cap after each use
  • Consult your healthcare provider for specific details and seek medical advice if your condition persists or worsens. Additionally, wait for your vision to clear before driving or operating machinery after using the eye drops.

Don’ts

  • Do not exceed the prescribed dosage or continue using the medication for longer than directed by your healthcare provider, as prolonged use may increase the risk of serious side effects.
  • Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface to prevent contamination.
  • This medication should not be used while wearing contact lenses
  • Do not rinse the dropper.
