Rosiglitazone Maleate – the generic alternative to Avandia

March 9, 2006 | by DoctorSolve

Rosiglitazone Maleate (brand name: Avandia) is used by people with Type 2 diabetes to reduce and maintain blood sugar. Your body naturally produces insulin to help transport sugar from your bloodstream and into your cells. A common misconception is that people who suffer from Type 2 diabetes simply cannot produce enough insulin. In reality, sugar builds up in the bloodstream because the body does not make proper use of the existing insulin.

Rosiglitazone Maleate does not increase the actual amount of insulin in circulation. Rosiglitazone Maleate reduces the amount of sugar produced by the body and optimizes how existing insulin handles the sugar in the blood stream.

Rosiglitazone Maleate can be used alone or in conjunction with insulin, metformin, or sulfonylurea diabetes drugs. The effects of rosiglitazone maleate are slow acting. In most cases, users may not see the maximum result for up to three months.

NOTE: Rosiglitazone Maleate (Avandia) is not an oral form of insulin, and cannot be used in place of insulin. Supplements are not a substitute for good diet, weight loss, and regular exercise. By ignoring proper dietary and exercise habits you can develop dangerously high or low blood sugar levels.
