How does this medication work?

Remeron RD belongs to a group of medications known as tetracyclic antidepressants. Antidepressants are used to help relieve the symptoms of depression such as feeling low, sleeping problems, loss of appetite, and loss of interest in activities that you would normally enjoy doing. Depression occurs when certain chemicals in the brain are out of their normal balance. Antidepressants like Remeron RD help to bring the chemicals back into balance. They usually take at least a few weeks to achieve their total effect, so it is always important to take the medication exactly as prescribed and have patience.

How is Remeron RD taken?

Always take your medication exactly how your doctor has prescribed. Remeron RD tablets have been designed to rapidly disintegrate on the tongue and can be swallowed with saliva. It is important to handle these tablets properly. Ensure that your hands are dry when you remove the tablet from its blister packaging and then immediately place the tablet on the tongue. Remeron RD tablets must be used immediately after removal from packaging. The tablets cannot be stored once they have been removed from the package.

What are the side effects of Remeron RD?

Most common:

• Drowsiness
• dizziness
• dry mouth
• constipation
• increased appetite or weight gain

Most severe:

• Back pain
• shakiness
• increased urination

Other:

• Persistent sore throat or fever
• chills
• trouble breathing
• chest pain
