Zylet is indicated for the treatment of certain eye conditions. It is a combination eye medication that contains loteprednol, a steroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation, and tobramycin, an antibiotic that fights bacteria.

Zylet is specifically used for the following purposes:

  • Steroid-Responsive Inflammatory Ocular Conditions: Zylet is indicated for steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions where a corticosteroid is needed.
  • Bacterial Ocular Infections: It is also used in cases where there is a superficial bacterial ocular infection or a risk of bacterial ocular infection.

Do’s

  • Zylet is typically applied to the affected eye(s) every 4 to 6 hours, as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
  • During the initial 24 to 48 hours, the dosing may be increased, to every one to two hours. The dosage is based on the individual's medical condition and response to therapy
  • Before applying the eye drops, wash your hands thoroughly to avoid contamination.
  • Shake the bottle well before each dose.
  • Tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to create a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place the prescribed number of drops into the pouch. Afterward, close your eyes and put gentle pressure on the inner corner of your eye near the nose for a minute or two to prevent the medication from draining out
  • After using the eye drops, replace the dropper cap.
  • If using other eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes before applying them. Use eye drops before eye ointments to allow the eye drops to enter the eye.
  • Wait for several minutes for your vision to clear before driving or operating machinery after using the medication.
  • Use Zylet regularly at the same times each day to get the most benefit from it.
  • Continue to use this medication for the full-time prescribed, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.
  • Inform your healthcare provider if your condition does not improve in 2 days.

Don’ts

  • Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye.
  • Do not wear contact lenses while using Zylet. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying the medication. Consult with your healthcare provider about reinserting contact lenses after applying the medication.
  • Do not allow the dropper tip to touch any surface, as this may contaminate the suspension.
  • Do not rinse the dropper after use.
  • Do not use Zylet more often than prescribed or for longer than 2 weeks unless directed by your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects:

  • Stinging, burning, irritation, itching, discomfort, or redness of the eyes for 1 to 2 minutes when applying Zylet
  • Headache
  • Sensitivity of the eyes to light
  • Blurred vision

Zylet may cause high eye pressure and eye injury if used for an extended period of time.

Discuss potential side effects and any concerns with a healthcare provider. If you experience any unexpected or concerning symptoms while using Zylet, seek medical advice promptly.

Before using Zylet or making any changes to the treatment regimen, consult with a healthcare provider. This includes seeking advice before taking any other medications, changing dietary habits, or starting or discontinuing any course of treatment.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use Zylet eye drops exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your healthcare provider may occasionally change your dose to ensure the best results.

Do not use Zylet if you are allergic to loteprednol, tobramycin, or other steroids. Additionally, refrain from using Zylet if you have any type of fungal, viral, or bacterial infection in your eye.

Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized guidance on the warnings and precautions of Zylet, as individual circumstances may vary.
