Metro Cream (Metronidazole)

Do’s

• Wash and dry your hands before applying the medication.
• Clean and dry the affected area of the skin. Wait for 15 minutes before applying a thin layer of Metro Cream as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once or twice daily.
• Wait for 5 minutes before applying cosmetics, if desired.
• If the medication comes into contact with your eyes, rinse them with large amounts of cool water.
• Use Metro Cream regularly at the same times each day to get the most benefit from it.
• It may take about three weeks for your condition to improve and up to nine weeks to see the full benefit of the medication. If your condition does not improve or worsens, inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

• Avoid applying Metro Cream around the eye area, unless directed by your healthcare provider. 

Common Side Effects:

• Skin irritation or redness at the application site
• Dryness or peeling of the skin
• Burning or stinging sensation
• Itching or rash

These side effects are usually mild and may go away on their own as your body adjusts to the medication. However, if these side effects persist or worsen, seek medical attention.

Serious Side Effects:

• Allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention.

Do not use Metro Cream if you are allergic to metronidazole or any other ingredients in the cream. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications, including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements, that you are currently taking. Some medications may interact with Metro Cream; discuss any potential interactions with your healthcare provider.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, inform your healthcare provider before using Metro Cream. Your healthcare provider will weigh the potential benefits and risks of using the medication during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Inform your healthcare provider if you have a blood disorder before using Metro Cream. They will consider this information when prescribing the medication.
