Locoid Lipocream (Hydrocortisone Butyrate)

Do’s

• Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before and after applying the cream, unless treating your hands.
• Clean and dry the affected skin area before applying.
• Apply a thin layer of the cream and gently rub it in.
• Follow your healthcare provider's instructions for application frequency (usually 2-3 times daily for ointment/cream/solution, 2 times daily for lotion).
• Avoid covering or wrapping the treated area unless directed by your healthcare provider.
• Be extra cautious when applying near the eyes: avoid getting it in your eyes.
• Rinse thoroughly with water if the cream accidentally gets in your eyes, nose, or mouth.
• Use Locoid Lipocream only for the prescribed condition and for the recommended duration.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your skin condition doesn't improve or worsens after 2 weeks of use.

Don'ts

• Don't use Locoid Lipocream on your face, groin, or underarms unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
• Don't apply more than the recommended amount of cream.
• Don't use Locoid Lipocream for longer than prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't use the cream to treat a different condition than what it was prescribed for.

Serious side effects of Locoid Lipocream may include:

• Weight gain, especially in the face, upper back, and torso
• Slow wound healing
• Thinning or discolored skin
• Increased body hair
• Muscle weakness
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Tiredness
• Mood changes
• Menstrual changes
• Sexual changes

Common side effects of Locoid Lipocream may include:

• Stretch marks
• Skin thinning or discoloration
• Acne
• Small red bumps on the skin (folliculitis)

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking Locoid lipocream,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Talk to your healthcare provider about any allergies, especially to hydrocortisone butyrate, other corticosteroids, or any inactive ingredients.

Disclose Medical Conditions to your healthcare provider including:

• Poor blood circulation
• Diabetes
• Immune system problems

Do not use Locoid Lipocream on infected or sore skin.

Long-term or large-area use may reduce your body's ability to respond to stress. Inform your healthcare provider if you plan to have surgery, emergency treatment, or experience a serious illness/injury while using Locoid Lipocream or within the past few months.

Long-term use in children may slow growth. Regular healthcare provider visits are recommended to monitor height.

Locoid Lipocream should only be used during pregnancy if clearly necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding as it's unknown if the medication passes into breast milk when applied to the skin.
