Elocon Cream (Mometasone Furoate)

Do’s

• Before starting to use Elocon Cream and each time you get a refill, read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist. If you have any questions, ask your healthcare provider for clarification.
• Elocon Cream is for use only on certain areas of the skin. 
• Before applying the medication, wash and dry your hands. 
• Clean and dry the affected area before application.
• Apply as directed by your healthcare provider, usually a thin film of medication to the affected area once daily. Gently rub in the cream.
• Wash your hands with soap and water after each use unless you are using this medication to treat the hands.
• Use this medication regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition does not improve after 2 weeks of treatment or if it worsens.

Don’t

• Elocon Cream should not be used on the face, groin, or underarms, or for diaper rash unless directed to do so by your healthcare provider.
• Do not cover the treated area with bandages or other dressings unless specifically instructed to do so by your healthcare provider.
• After applying Elocon Cream, do not wash or rinse off the medication immediately. 
• Avoid getting the medication in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If this occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and call your healthcare provider if the irritation lasts.
• Do not apply large amounts of this medication, use it more often, or use it for longer than prescribed. Doing so could increase the risk of side effects without improving the condition any faster.

• Red or pus-filled bumps on the skin
• Acne
• Mild itching, tingling, or burning

This is not an exhaustive list of side effects, and others may occur. If you experience any unusual symptoms or side effects while using Elocon Cream, seek medical advice. 

Avoid using Elocon Cream in larger amounts or for longer than recommended, as topical steroid medicine can be absorbed through the skin, potentially causing steroid side effects throughout the body.

Mometasone can affect growth in children and should not be used long-term. The safety and efficacy of Elocon Cream in pediatric patients for more than 3 weeks of use have not been established.

Elocon Cream should not be applied on broken skin, and it should be avoided on large areas of the body or for longer periods, especially in children and on the face. Additionally, it should not be used in or around the eyes, including eyelids.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your healthcare provider before using Elocon Cream, as its safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established.

If you experience a recurrence of your condition shortly after stopping treatment, within 2 weeks, do not restart using Elocon Cream without consulting your healthcare provider.
