Tobi Podhaler Capsules (Tobramycin)

Do’s

• Use the Tobi Podhaler inhaler. Inhale the tobramycin powder only with the provided inhaler, not by mouth.
• Take Tobi Podhaler exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, considering dosage, frequency, and duration. This typically involves inhaling twice daily (12 hours apart) for 28 days, followed by a 28-day break from the medication.
• Inhale two times per capsule to ensure you get all the medication.
• Take Tobi Podhaler at around the same time each day for consistent medication levels in your body.
• Wipe the mouthpiece after each use. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe the mouthpiece after each dose.
• Replace the Tobi Podhaler inhaler with a new one every week for hygiene reasons.
• Continue using Tobi Podhaler for the full prescribed duration, even if symptoms improve, to prevent relapse of the infection.
• Inform your healthcare provider if symptoms worsen: Tell your healthcare provider if your condition doesn't improve or worsens after using Tobi Podhaler.

Don'ts

• Don't swallow the capsules. Tobi Podhaler capsules are for inhalation only, not swallowing.
•  Don't exhale into the mouthpiece. Avoid breathing out into the mouthpiece at any time during inhalation.
• Don't inhale other medications at the same time as Tobi Podhaler. Follow your healthcare provider's instructions on the order of treatments if you use other inhaled medications or do chest physiotherapy.
• Don't wash the inhaler. Never wash the Tobi Podhaler inhaler with water. Keep it dry and store it in its case.
• Don't useTobi Podhaler for more than 28 days consecutively. Follow the 28-day treatment cycle with a 28-day break as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't discontinue use of Tobi Podhaler before finishing the prescribed amount, even if symptoms improve.

Common Side Effects:

• Voice disorder
• Cough
• Shortness of breath
• Wheezing
• Hoarseness
• Pain in the throat or lungs

Serious Side Effects:

• Allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing
• Worsening of symptoms while using Tobi Podhaler
• Hearing loss

Let your healthcare provider know if you have allergies to Tobramycin, other aminoglycoside antibiotics, or any ingredients in Tobi Podhaler Capsule.

Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing health issues, particularly hearing problems, kidney problems, coughing up blood, myasthenia gravis, or Parkinson's disease.

Tobramycin may interfere with live bacterial vaccines. Tell your healthcare provider you are using Tobramycin before receiving any vaccinations.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take (including Tobramycin) before any surgery.

Tobramycin may harm an unborn baby. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider before using it if you are pregnant.

It is unknown if Tobramycin passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
