Finacea Cream (Azelaic Acid)

Do's

• Follow your healthcare provider's instructions exactly regarding dosage and frequency (usually twice daily).
• Wash the affected area (face) with a mild cleanser and pat dry.
• Apply a thin layer of cream to your entire face (cheeks, chin, forehead, nose). Gently massage it in.
• Wash your hands thoroughly after application.
• Apply makeup after the cream dries.
• Use the medication consistently for the prescribed duration.

Don'ts

• Do not use Finacea cream on broken skin, or around your eyes, nose, or mouth.
• Avoid harsh skincare products like astringents, abrasives, or those containing alcohol.
• Don't use more cream than prescribed.
• Do not cover the treated area with a bandage or dressing.
• Don't use Finacea for any skin condition not diagnosed by your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects:

• Pruritus (itching)
• Burning sensation
• Stinging
• Tingling
• Dry or scaly skin
• Skin redness or irritation

Serious Side Effects:

• Allergic reaction (e.g., hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat)
• Patches of skin with hypopigmentation (lack of skin color)
• Severe burning, stinging, or warmth
• Severe itching or tingling
• Severe redness, dryness, peeling, or other irritation
• Changes in skin color
• New or worsening breathing problems

Finacea should only be used during pregnancy if clearly necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

Finacea may pass into breast milk but is likely safe for breastfeeding infants. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding while using Finacea.
