Gastrolyte (Sodium/potassium/glucose - non Rx)

Drug Description : Gastrolyte is used to prevent dehydration caused by severe diarrhea. This medication will not immediately stop diarrhea, but will provide nutrients lost in the body due to diarrhea.Store Gastrolyte at room temperature in a tightly closed container. Do not expose Gastrolyte to heat, moisture, or direct light. Do not allow this medication to freeze. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Drink plain water between doses of GastrolTake this medication as prescribed to you. When taking the powder form of this medication add 7 ounces of water to one packet of Gastrolyte. Do boil the combination. When giving this medication to children, slowly give them the drink mixture in small spoonfuls. When giving to breast-fed infants they should be given breast milk between doses. Drink plain water between doses of Gastrolyte.If you have the inability to drink, or you have intestinal blockage, difficulty urinating, or are prone to vomiting this medication may not be right for you.Eat soft foods if possible. This will keep your nutrition up until your diarrhea goes away. Check with your doctor if your symptoms do not improve in 48 hours.
