Lidex Solution (Fluocinonide)

Do’s

• Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before and after applying the solution, unless treating your hands.
• Clean and dry the affected skin area where you will be applying the solution.
• Apply a thin layer of the solution to the affected area.
• Gently rub the solution into the skin.
• Apply the solution as directed by your healthcare provider, typically 2-4 times daily depending on the severity of your condition.
• Be careful not to get Lidex solution in your eyes, mouth, or nose. Rinse thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs.

Don'ts

• Avoid applying Lidex solution to your face, groin, or underarms unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
• Don't use more solutions than recommended or for longer than prescribed.
• Don't use Lidex solution to treat any skin condition other than what it was prescribed for.
• Don't suddenly stop using the Lidex solution without talking to your healthcare provider first.
• Don't bandage, cover, or wrap the treated area unless specifically instructed by your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects:

• Burning, irritation, itching, or redness of the skin (usually mild and temporary)
• Change in skin pigmentation
• Dry, flaking skin
• Excessive hair growth over the body
• Heat rash
• Increased redness or scaling of skin sores (usually mild and temporary)
• Skin rash (usually mild and temporary)
• Skin redness
• Thick, leathery skin
• Wet or soggy feeling to the skin

Serious Side Effects:

• Unusual/extreme tiredness
• Weight loss
• Headache
• Swelling of the ankles/feet
• Increased thirst/urination
• Vision problems

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking a Lidex solution,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

People with allergies to fluocinonide, other corticosteroids, or any inactive ingredients should avoid Lidex Solution.

Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing skin conditions, especially around the application area.

Lidex Solution should not be used on infected or sore skin areas.

Consult your healthcare provider regarding long-term or large-area applications, as it may suppress the immune system's response to stress. 

Inform your healthcare provider if you plan to have surgery, emergency treatment, or experience a serious illness/injury while using Lidex Solution or within the past few months.

Long-term use in children might slow growth. Regular healthcare provider visits are recommended to monitor height.

Lidex Solution should only be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding if clearly necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider. 

It is unknown if the medication passes into breast milk when applied to the skin, but similar medications taken orally can enter breast milk.
